Opportunities exist for a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) to support a regional day school program for the deaf serving students in grades K-12. This contract role focuses on delivering telespeech and teletherapy services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH).
Located in Mesquite, Texas, the position requires an active Texas SLP license along with ASL fluency or certification as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHHT). The caseload consists of students enrolled in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing program, providing specialized speech-language pathology support across a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week throughout the current school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide telespeech and teletherapy services tailored to the unique communication needs of DHH students
- Collaborate with educators and support staff within the regional day school program to develop individualized treatment plans
- Monitor and document student progress, adapting interventions to maximize language and communication outcomes
- Maintain compliance with state licensure requirements and program standards
Qualifications:
- Active Texas Speech-Language Pathologist license
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) or certification as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHHT)
- Experience working with K-12 students, especially within DHH education settings, is strongly preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, families, and educational teams
